Botanical Name: Machaerium spp. (Machaerium scleroxylon)

Flooring Name: Pau Ferro, Morado, Santos Rosewood, Patagonian Cherry

Distribution: Brazil, Bolivia, Central American

Color Range:   heartwood is highly varied with shades of yellow, brown, red, orange, & violet intermixed with occasional black striping.

Janka Hardness Chart:

is notably hard and dense, with a dimensional stability similar to that of red oak.

Hardness – 1780

Color Change: high lighting the contrasting black streaks of the grain, making for tremendous colour variation across the boards and blocks

Where To Use: Santos Rosewood may be used residentially or commercially wherever awarms rooms and surfaces..

Site Sanding/Finishing: Water base and oil based finishes perform well. As always, TEST a sample before starting the entire floor.
